23 October–11 December 2012
Many of us aspire to be artistic in one form or the other, but we carry within us hindrances to either doing our work or moving it out into the world (commonly called “marketing”)—or both.
We think we are not good enough, our work is not good enough, we lack enough talent or imagination or commitment, we can’t trust the future, we need more ambition and drive, and on and on.
We cannot get beyond our fears and start doing our artistic work full-out and then putting our work out there for others to experience. We become closeted artists, and if we do manage to express ourselves artistically, we shy away from sharing it with others, with the world.
We fear criticism mostly. Failure. Rejection. We want to be approved of, to be appreciated and recognized. Mainly, we are just too self-critical. There is nothing holding us back but us.
We will use The Work of Byron Katie to get at our deep, underlying beliefs that stop us from fulfilling our dreams to write, dance, paint, sculpt, act, play music, make a movie, do anything that we long to do.
Join us and get to work on the beliefs and fears that stop you from being the fully creative person you secretly want to be.
About the Presenter
Tamara will be ably assisted throughout by Ben Henderson—artist, playwright and creative coach in New York City, and a Candidate in ITW. He says: "Katie has been my best art teacher. Through The Work, she has taught me to let go, trust myself and give up the need for approval. This is no small thing for a creative artist. Now I want to help others do the same."
Note: If you are brand new to The Work, you’ll qualify for an introductory session with Ben to equip you with the basic skills for inquiry.
“Tamara is a woman of full integrity and honesty. She is so open and available. Her journey has been strong and her joy, love for life and others show you how deep she's done her inner-work. She is the kind of person you are grateful to have in your life and I know you will be even more grateful to work with her as a Certified Facilitator. You are in for a wonderful ride. Enjoy! I highly, highly recommend Tamara.”
